The Clearlist is Artlist’s internal tool designed to prevent copyright claims on videos using licensed Artlist music. Even with a royalty-free license, social media platforms like YouTube may automatically flag videos. This article explains what the Clearlist is and how to register your channels and videos to help keep content protected across supported platforms.
What is the Clearlist?
The Clearlist is Artlist’s internal tool to help prevent copyright claims on YouTube when using music licensed through Artlist. It connects your YouTube channel or specific video links to your Artlist account, so YouTube knows the music is licensed to you.
Artlist’s music catalog is fully integrated with YouTube’s Content ID (CID) system. When music is added to the Artlist library, it is also registered with this CID system. This allows YouTube to recognize and track the use of Artlist music. When your channel or video is on the Clearlist, YouTube is able to confirm the license and avoid flagging your video.
How does the Clearlist Work?
When a video is uploaded to YouTube, the Content ID system scans it to check if it includes music that is registered in its database. If the music matches a track from Artlist, YouTube checks whether the video or channel has been added to the Clearlist.
If the video or channel has been added to the Clearlist, YouTube confirms that the track is properly licensed and does not initiate a copyright claim. If the video or channel is not on the Clearlist, a claim may be triggered, even if the music was downloaded legally from Artlist.

- 1 YouTube channel
- 1 Personal Facebook account or page

Commonly asked questions
I have a Pro license. Can I post videos on more than 3 Youtube channels?
With a Pro plan, add up to 3 channels per platform to the Clearlist. However, you can clear videos posted on other Youtube channels by adding the individual video links to the Clear your videos section of the Clearlist. For more details, read here.
💡 Pro tip: If you are working as part of a team, consider upgrading to a Team plan to be able to add up to 5 full channels per platform with the Clearlist. For more information, read here.
Can more than 3 Facebook or Instagram channels be cleared?
With a Pro plan, only 3 channels per platform can be added to the Clearlist. However, with that license you are covered to post videos on as many channels as you want without adding them to the Clearlist. If you or your clients ever receive a false copyright claim on any other platform, contact us for next steps.
Note: If you have a Social plan, you are only allowed to post on a single channel per platform and that channel needs to be added to your Clearlist in order to be covered.
Do I need the Clearlist for SFX, footage, AI voiceover, images and videos?
You do not need the Clearlist for SFX, footage, AI voiceover, images and videos. The Clearlist protects your content that includes Artlist's music. If your project uses any of the other assets without Artlist music, Clearlisting isn’t necessary.
How do I add a new YouTube channel with no uploaded videos to the Clearlist?
To add a new Youtube channel with no uploaded videos to the Clearlist, instead of using the channel name or URL, you’ll want to input the YouTube Channel ID. For more info, check out How to Clearlist your channels.
Can I link my channels or videos to the Clearlist after the license expires?
You can’t link your channels or videos to the Clearlist after the license expires. Channels and videos registered to Clearlist during an active subscription remain cleared forever. Since content published after a subscription ends is not covered by Artlist’s license, an active plan is necessary to add channels and videos to Clearlist. For more information, read here.
