With an Artlist license, you’re covered to post your completed videos on numerous platforms, including TikTok. This article explains how to use licensed Artlist music on TikTok, how TikTok’s content identification system works, how to register a TikTok channel with Artlist’s Clearlist to help prevent copyright claims, and what steps to take if a video is muted or blocked. It also outlines which Artlist plans include TikTok coverage.
Understanding TikTok’s policy
TikTok’s content identification system is designed to detect and manage copyrighted music in uploaded videos. As part of this system, TikTok may mute, block, or remove videos that contain copyrighted audio, even when that audio is fully licensed through platforms like Artlist.
Currently, TikTok’s policy regarding copyrighted music states that they may mute or block any video that contains more than 1 minute of non-TikTok (i.e., externally sourced or licensed) music. This limitation is part of their internal platform policy and is not related to the validity of the license provided by Artlist.
To avoid content issues, it’s important to comply with TikTok’s music and content usage policies in addition to having a valid Artlist license.
💡 Pro tip Before uploading your video, review TikTok’s community guidelines and terms to ensure your video meets all platform requirements.
How does Artlist help avoid copyright claims on TikTok?
Artlist’s license covers the use of Artlist music in videos posted on a variety of major social media platforms, including TikTok. Even with a valid license, TikTok may automatically mute or remove videos with music detected by its copyright system. As long as your content follows TikTok’s internal policies, this license fully covers the use of Artlist music in videos posted on that platform.
