Top-Up Credits let you add extra AI credits to your account instantly, without changing your subscription plan. This article explains what Top-Up Credits are, who can use them, and how to purchase them.
What are Top-Up Credits?
When your subscription credits run low, you can purchase a Top-Up bundle to get more credits right away. Unlike upgrading your plan, a Top-Up is a one-time purchase. It does not change your plan, your renewal date, or your monthly price.
Top-Up Credits are kept in a separate wallet alongside your regular subscription credits, so you can always see both balances independently in your Credits Bucket (the credits indicator in your account navigation) or in My Account.
Am I eligible for Top-Up Credits?
You can purchase Top-Up Credits when all of the following apply:
- Active yearly subscription — you are on an AI Suite or Max Pro yearly plan with 80,000 credits and more.
- No active Top-Up — you do not already have a Top-Up in progress.
Note: Only one active Top-Up is allowed at a time. Once your current Top-Up expires or is fully consumed, you will be able to purchase another one.
How do I purchase Top-Up Credits?
You can add a Top-Up from My Account: go to My Account and click Buy Top-Up Credits.
To complete a purchase:
- Log in to your Artlist account.
- Go to My Account and click Buy Top-Up Credits.
- Select the bundle that fits your needs.
- Review the order summary: credit amount and price.
- Confirm payment using your card on file.
Credits are available in your account immediately after a successful payment.
How do Top-Up Credits work?
Your account has two separate credit pools:
- Subscription Credits — your regular monthly allotment, which renews automatically on your billing cycle.
- Top-Up Credits — the additional credits from your one-time purchase.
Artlist always uses your Subscription Credits first. Top-Up Credits are drawn on automatically once your subscription balance reaches zero — you don't need to do anything. You can see both balances, along with the Top-Up expiry date, in your Credits Bucket and in My Account.
When do Top-Up Credits expire?
Top-Up Credits expire 30 days after purchase. Any unused credits are removed from your account at that point. Your subscription credits and renewal schedule are not affected.
- The expiry date is shown in your Credits Bucket and in My Account.
- Expired credits cannot be reinstated.
Tip: Start a Top-Up when you anticipate a busy production period to make the most of the 30-day window.
What happens if I cancel or downgrade?
Cancellation: If you cancel your Artlist subscription, you will immediately lose access to any unused Top-Up Credits. Top-Up Credits require an active subscription and cannot be transferred or refunded in this scenario.
Commonly asked questions
Will buying a Top-Up change my subscription or billing cycle?
No. A Top-Up is charged as a separate, one-time payment. Your plan, renewal date, and monthly or annual price remain exactly the same.
Can I buy more than one Top-Up at a time?
No. Only one active Top-Up is allowed at a time. Once your current Top-Up expires or is fully used, the option to purchase another one will become available.
What happens to my Top-Up if my subscription renews while it's active?
Your subscription renews as normal and your subscription credits are replenished. Your Top-Up Credits remain in the Top-Up Wallet with the same expiry date — the renewal does not affect them.
Where can I see my Top-Up balance and expiry?
Your Top-Up balance and expiry date are shown in two places: the Credits Bucket (accessible from any page) and My Account > Overview > My subscription.
I was charged, but my credits didn't appear. What should I do?
Credits are issued immediately after a successful payment. If you don't see them within a few minutes, try refreshing your browser.
