Folders keep your creative work organized. Each folder is its own workspace where you can create, edit, and revisit images, videos, music tracks, and voiceovers without affecting other projects. Your open folders appear as tabs across the top of Artlist AI Tools, so you can switch between projects in one click. Storage is unlimited and there is no limit on the number of folders you can create.
What is a folder?
A folder is a canvas for your creative outputs — one place that holds everything for a specific project.
- Isolated workspace: Each folder has its own context. Starting a new folder does not carry over content from previous ones.
- Flexible creation: You can generate images, videos, voiceovers, and music within any folder.
- Persistent storage: Folders save automatically, and you can reopen any of them from the folder list under the + button.
To start a new folder, click the + next to your last tab. To go back to an existing folder, use the folder list under the + button. It is sorted by last modified, so the folders you worked on most recently come first. New folders are named Untitled Folder until you rename them.
How to filter inside a folder
Click Filters at the top of a folder to choose what you want to see:
- Media Type: Images, Videos, Voiceover, Music — pick one or several.
- Aspect Ratio: find creations with a specific format.
- Date Range: show creations from a specific period.
- Model: show only creations made with a specific model.
- Show hidden items: reveal assets you have hidden.
For instance, when you filter for just videos and images, voiceovers and music are filtered out. Click Clear Filters to go back to the full view.
When your folder is unfiltered, all your assets — images, videos, voiceovers, and music — appear together in one unified view, the same as My Library.
Searching inside a folder
Use the search bar within a folder to quickly find specific creations. Search matches against the prompt text used to generate each asset, making it easy to locate past work without scrolling through the full folder.
Canvas view
Alongside the standard Grid view, folders now include a Canvas view — a freeform, zoomable workspace for laying out your generations exactly how you want, instead of a fixed grid.
To switch to Canvas view, select Canvas in the Grid / Canvas switch at the top right of your folder.
What you can do on the canvas:
- Freely drag and reposition any generation; its position is saved automatically.
- Zoom and pan around the canvas to organize larger folders.
- Multi-select assets (box select or shift-click) and move the group together.
- Generate new assets directly from the canvas without leaving the view.
- Remove or hide an asset from the canvas — this does not delete the underlying generation, which remains available in Grid view.
Note: Canvas view is currently available on desktop only.

How to rename a folder
To rename a folder, double-click its name in the tab and type the new name. You can rename a folder once it contains its first creation.
Hover over a folder tab to see its full name, a thumbnail of its latest creation, and when it was last edited. Click the X on a tab to close it. Closing a tab does not delete the folder — you can reopen it from your folder list.
Folder names can be up to 100 characters. When only a few folders are open, each tab shows as much of the name as fits. As you open more folders, tabs get narrower and longer names are shortened, so hover over a tab to see the full name.
Can I hide an asset in a folder?
Yes. Click the More (⋯) icon on any asset and select Hide asset. It's a personal, reversible action — the asset disappears from your folders and My Library but is never deleted.
How do I restore a hidden asset?
Turn on the “Show Hidden Items” toggle (under Filters) to reveal your hidden assets, then click the Hide asset icon again on the one you want back — this un-hides it and returns it to its original location.
Bulk actions
Select multiple assets at once to delete, favorite, add to Artboards, or download them together — no need to act on each one individually.
How to select multiple assets
- Hover over any asset card to reveal a selection checkbox.
- Click the checkbox to select the asset. The grid switches into selection mode, showing a checkbox on every card.
- Continue selecting as many assets as needed. A floating action bar appears at the bottom of the screen showing how many assets are selected.
Available bulk actions
- Delete — Removes all selected assets. A confirmation dialog shows the exact number before the action is final.
- Favorite / Unfavorite — Favorites all selected assets. If every selected asset is already a favorite, the action switches to Unfavorite.
- Add to Artboards — Opens the Artboard picker and adds all selected assets to the chosen Artboard in one step.
- Download — Downloads all selected assets as a single ZIP file. A progress indicator shows while the file is being prepared, and a bell icon appears in the top bar so the download keeps preparing even if you navigate away.
To clear a selection, click the X on the action bar, or deselect the last remaining asset.
Note: Selections are specific to the current folder view. Navigating away or reloading the page clears the selection (any in-progress bulk download continues in the background).
Moving an asset to a different folder
You can move any asset from one folder to another using the More menu — handy when you've generated something in the wrong folder, or simply want to reorganise your workspace.
Note: "Move to folder" only appears when you have more than one folder. If you only have one folder, this option will not be visible in the menu.
How to move an asset
- Click the More (⋯) icon on any asset.
- Select Move to folder.
- Choose a destination folder from the picker. You can scroll or search if you have many folders.
The asset moves immediately and disappears from its current folder. A confirmation toast appears: "Moved to [Folder Name]" — click the folder name to jump straight to it.
Undoing a move
Changed your mind? Click Undo on the toast before it disappears to return the asset to its original folder.
