AI credits are what make it possible to generate voiceovers on Artlist’s Toolkit. This article explains what AI credits for voiceover are, and how they’re calculated and deducted based on character usage and model selection.
What are AI credits?
AI credits are the currency used to create voiceovers, images, and videos on Artlist’s Toolkit. Each subscription plan includes a fixed number of credits per month. Whenever you generate AI content, such as voiceover, credits are deducted based on the specific tool and settings used.
💡Pro Tip: Your credit balance automatically refreshes each month and the remaining balance can be viewed from the user dashboard at any time.
How AI credits work
Each time you generate AI voiceovers, the corresponding credit cost will be automatically deducted from your monthly credit pool. The number of credits required to generate varies by model and output settings.
AI Voiceover
For AI voiceovers, the cost is calculated based on the number of characters used, including spaces and punctuation.
| Model | Credits per character |
| Eleven Multilingual v2 | 1 credit = 5 characters |
| Eleven v2 | 1 credit = 5 characters |
| Minimax 02 HD | 1 credit = 10 characters |
| Cartesia | 1 credit = 10 characters |
| Initial Voice Clone | 500 credits |
| Speech to Speech | 2 credits = 1 second |
Note: The credit cost for each generation is shown when hovering on the Generate button before confirming the action.
💡Pro Tip: If more credits are needed than what's included in the current plan, consider upgrading to a higher tier for additional access. For Speech to Speech, credits are calculated based on the duration of the uploaded recording.
Commonly asked questions
Can I purchase additional AI credits as a one off?
Currently, you are unable to purchase additional AI credits as a one off. You are able to upgrade to a higher credit package which will change your monthly or yearly plan and, hence this credit allowance will be available each month moving forward after the upgrade.
What happens to my existing credit count when I upgrade to purchase a plan with additional credits?
- The number of credits in the package are the total that you will receive per month.
- For example, if you upgrade from the 40,000 credit package to 240,000 credit package your total credit amount per month will be 240,000.
- Credits don’t roll over. Used credits are deducted from the total amount.
- For example, if you used 1,000 credits before your upgrade to 240,000 monthly credits, you will receive 239,000 credits out of 240,000 credits.
- If you upgrade from AI Suite Starter with 40,000 credits and upgrade to Max Pro, you will upgrade to Max Pro with 40,000 credits as well.
Do unused credits roll over to the next month?
AI credits do not roll over from month to month. Monthly credits reset at the beginning of each monthly credit cycle.
Can credits be used for all of the AI tools?
Credits can be used for all AI tools.
Note: Credits can only be used to generate AI asset types included in your subscription plan. For example, if you have the AI Starter 7,500 credit plan, your credits can only be used to generate AI voiceover, whereas if you have the AI Starter 16,500 credit plan, credits can be used for AI voiceover, image and video generation. What happens if I use all my monthly credits?
If you use all your monthly credits, you have the option to upgrade your plan to include more credits. It’s not possible to generate additional content unless extra credits are purchased or the subscription is upgraded.
When you upgrade to a higher-credit plan, the new plan will take effect immediately. Your subscription date restarts on the date of the upgrade. This means your subscription will renew a month or year from the upgrade date depending on the billing cycle you have on your subscription. It will be charged at the price of the higher-tier plan you chose.
Can credits be refunded if I am unsatisfied with the generation?
All generations require credits to process, even if the result isn’t downloaded. This is because credits cover the resources needed to create the generation itself. For that reason, credits or subscription plans can’t be refunded for results that don’t meet expectations. We recommend exploring different prompts, settings, or styles to get the best possible outcome from your credits.
How can I check how many credits I have used?
You can check the number of credits used by hovering over the credits icon. It will show how many credits you have used from your total package.
When exactly will my credits renew?
From your credit balance in Toolkit, you can see the exact date and time when your credits will renew.
