The Artlist Library Extension is a custom panel for Adobe Premiere Pro that lets you browse, preview, and download music (including stems), sound effects, footage, and voiceovers, without leaving your editing timeline.
It’s a simple way to access the full Artlist library directly in your project, so you can stay focused and work faster. This article explains what it is, how to install, uninstall and how to use Artboards with the extension.
What is the Artlist Library extension
The Artlist Library extension lets you search for assets, preview them in sync with your timeline, and drag and drop them directly into your Premiere Pro project.
How to install the Artlist Library extension
Before starting: Install the Artlist Hub and sign in with the account linked to your subscription.
- Open the Artlist Hub and click Sign In.
An Artlist log in page will open in your browser. - Log in with the Artlist account credentials.
- Select Open Artlist Hub.
The Artlist Library extension installation process will begin automatically and In the background, it will check you have got Premiere Pro on your system.
If the installation does not start:
- In the Sidebar, click Artlist Library.
- Click Install Now.
To find the extension in Premiere Pro:
- Restart Premiere.
- Head to Window > Extensions.
- Select Artlist Library.
How to uninstall the Artlist Library extension
- Open the Artlist Hub.
- Select the Profile icon.
- Click Settings.
- Under Installations, click Uninstall Artlist Library extension for Premiere Pro.
- Follow the on-screen instructions and, once complete, the Artlist Library extension will be uninstalled.
How to update the Artlist Library extension
Upon closing the extension or restarting Premiere Pro, the Artlist Library will always load back up on the most recent version automatically for you.
If you have the extension open whilst an update rolls out, you will see a banner at the top instructing you to update.
If the update needs to be done via the Artlist Hub, clicking the banner will launch the Hub for you, then download and install the update. Next you just need to restart Premiere Pro to finish the process!
How to use artboards with the Artlist Library extension
In the Artlist Library extension you can access your Artboards, create new Artboards and add or remove assets.
To access the Artboards you have created:
- On the Artlist Library panel, select the tab with 4 squares.
- In the top left corner, use the drop down to sort by recent activity or A-Z.
- In the top right corner, click ‘Create new Artboard’ to create a new Artboard.
- Click a previously created Artboard to view all the assets that have been added.
💡 Pro Tip: You can also drag and drop assets straight from your Artboard to your editing timeline.
To add assets to an Artboard:
- On the Artlist Library panel, select an asset tab. For example, Music, Footage, SFX or Voiceover.
- On the asset tab, to the right of the asset click the plus icon.
Note: For footage, hover over the clip and click the plus icon.
- Choose the Artboard you would like to add the asset to or create a new Artboard.
To remove assets from an Artboard:
- On the Artlist Library panel, select the tab with 4 squares.
- Click a previously created Artboard.
- On the asset you would like to remove, click the 3 dots.
- Select Remove from Artboard.

What do I do if I see a ‘Premiere Pro not installed’ error?
If you see an error stating Premiere Pro is not installed but you have Premiere Pro installed on your system, please click 'Install anyway'.
What do I do if I see a ‘Failed to write to file’ error?
If a 'Failed to write to file' error occurs during download, verify your download folder access. You can view or change the download location in the extension settings.
What do I do for any other download errors?
Any other failing to download errors, could be related to possible network problems. Check your firewall or VPN, as the extension could be blocked from downloading.
Is there a daily download limit?
Yes, there is a daily download limit that aligns with the website. You will get a warning in the extension when you are close to or have hit your daily download limit.
What happens if I cancel or downgrade?
If you cancel or downgrade to a plan that doesn't include the extension, you will see a message to upgrade your plan. Please follow the instructions provided to upgrade and resume access.
Can the download format be changed?
Yes, the download format can be changed. In the top right corner of the Artlist Library extension, click the cog and select settings. Scroll down to Download Format to select the formats you would like for music, stems, SFX and footage.
