Understanding AI Credits

AI credits are used to generate AI voiceovers, images, and videos in Artlist's AI platform. This article explains what AI credits are, how they’re used across the various tools, and what AI credit packages are available to purchase.

What are AI credits?

AI credits are the currency used to create voiceovers, images, and videos on Artlist’s AI platform. Each subscription plan includes a fixed number of credits per month. Whenever you generate AI content - whether it’s voiceover, image, or video - credits are deducted based on the specific tool and settings used.

💡 Pro Tip: Your credit balance automatically refreshes each month and the remaining balance can be viewed from the user dashboard at any time.

How AI credits work

Each time you generate AI content, the corresponding credit cost will be automatically deducted from your monthly credit pool. The number of credits required to generate varies by tool and output settings.

AI Voiceover

For AI voiceovers, the cost is calculated based on the number of characters used, including spaces and punctuation. One credit is equivalent to 10 characters. Voice cloning is worth 500 credits. Once a voice is cloned, one credit is equivalent to 10 characters when used.

AI Text to Image

The AI Text to Image generator offers different pricing tiers based on the model, and number of images you want to generate.

AI Image to Image

Whether you are editing 1 image or combining up to 3 with the AI Image to Image generator, each generation is dependent on the model you choose. 

AI Text to Video

Text to Video credits will depend on the tier, duration, and whether the video contains audio.

AI Image to Video

With the AI Image to Video generator, the credits will depend on the tier, resolution, duration you chose and whether the output has audio.

Can I purchase additional AI credits as a one -off?

Currently, you are unable to purchase additional AI credits as a one off. You are able to upgrade to a higher credit package which will change your monthly or yearly plan and, hence this credit allowance will be available each month moving forward after the upgrade.

Do unused credits roll over to the next month?

Unused credits do not roll over to the next month. Monthly credits reset at the beginning of each monthly billing cycle. For more information, see What are AI credits.

Can credits be used for all of the AI tools?

Credits can be used for all AI tools.

Note: Credits can only be used to generate AI asset types included in your subscription plan. For example, if you have the AI Voiceover plan, your credits can only be used to generate AI voiceover, whereas if you have the AI Suite plan, credits can be used for AI voiceover, image and video generation. What happens if I use all my monthly credits?

If you use all your monthly credits, you have the option to upgrade your plan to include more credits. It’s not possible to generate additional content unless extra credits are purchased or the subscription is upgraded.

When you upgrade to a higher-credit plan, the new plan will take effect immediately. Your next renewal will still occur on your original renewal date, and it will be charged at the price of the higher-tier plan you chose.

Can credits be refunded if I am unsatisfied with the generation?

All generations require credits to process, even if the result isn’t downloaded. This is because credits cover the resources needed to create the generation itself. For that reason, credits or subscription plans can’t be refunded for results that don’t meet expectations. We recommend exploring different prompts, settings, or styles to get the best possible outcome from your credits.

How do I upgrade to get more credits?

To upgrade your credits:

1. Log in to your Artlist account.
2. Navigate to your Subscription under your Profile settings.
3. Click Upgrade to get more AI credits.

4. Select the add‑on package you want.
5. Purchase, and the credits will be upgraded immediately.

What happens to my existing credit count when I upgrade to purchase additional credits?

When you upgrade your AI Suite plan or Max Pro plan to a higher credit tier, your credit balance is updated right away. Here are the key things to know:

• Credits you’ve already used that month aren’t reimbursed. Your usage so far in the month stays the same. The upgrade doesn’t reset or refund credits you’ve already spent.
• The upgrade adds extra credits to reach the new plan total.
  • If you move from 40,000 to 240,000, the upgrade adds 200,000 credits to your existing 40,000 allowance, giving you 240,000 total for that month. The next month you would then renew with 240,000.
• Billing is pro-rated. You don’t pay the full price of the higher plan immediately. Instead, you’re charged a pro-rated amount for the upgrade, based on how much time is left in your billing cycle. You would then be charged the full amount of the plan on your next renewal.
