Tips to generate voiceovers

The AI Voiceover tool will generate your text into speech using your selected voice from the catalog of exclusive voices.

Context

  • Be sure to provide text with context so that the AI Voiceover tool will know how to read it.
  • To create a fluid voiceover, use brackets to contain individual phrases and string them together.
Example: "[Try the new Voiceover tool.] [It’s easy to use.]"

Pronunciation

  • Select the language that matches the text you enter into the box.
  • Make sure the words are spelled correctly.
  • Try alternative spellings or write words out phonetically to achieve a specific pronunciation. This is useful for proper nouns, trademarks, and words that are spelled the same but pronounced differently.
  • Write acronyms in word form, making sure to write each letter as it's pronounced.
    Some common examples are:
    • U - type “you”
    • X  - type “ex”
    • A - type “ae”
    • I - type “eye”

Inflection

  • To add emphasis, use punctuation throughout your text, and at the end of it.
  • Avoid using quotation marks for emphasis unless you’re referring to a quote.
  • To stress that something is a question, use 2 question marks at the end of the sentence.

Pauses

  • To add a pause, use a comma (,) or a single dash (-).
  • To specify the length of a pause, add the <break /> tag where you want the timed pause and specify the time in seconds (s) or milliseconds (ms).
    • Example: <break time="1s" />

Numbers and symbols

  • When listing several numbers, or reading a long or complex number, use commas or dashes to indicate where the pauses should go.
  • When narrating dates, use either the format MM/DD/YYYY, or write it out.
    • Example: Write "01/26/2025" or “January 26th, 2025”.
  • To read each individual character, for example in a long numerical string or alphanumeric code,  type <spell> before and </spell> after the text.
    • Example: “You can enter <spell> 4454 2371cg491 </spell>.”
  • Avoid using symbols or special characters. Instead, write out the word.
    • Example: “#” = Hashtag

URLs

  • Write the URL as you would read it out loud
    • Example: “Artlist dot eye oh” (for Artlist.io)
    • Example: “Generating voiceovers dot com” (for generatingvoiceovers.com)
  • If a URL or email address comes at the end of a question, add a space before the question mark so that the question mark won’t be read out loud.
    • Example: “Can you open artlist.io ?”
